Textile Workers Plan Action On Salary at American Woolen
Representatives of the Textile Workers Union of America said they will present next Wednesday a future plan of action for salary matters at the American Woolen Company. Company officials told 50 union delegates they cannot restore a 12 percent wage cut due to slack demand for woolen and worsted goods. The delegates represent about 15,000 of the firm’s 28,000 employees across Lawrence Maynard Plymouth Dover and Skowhegan. The plan will be shared at a New England New York New Jersey TWA meeting and at mass meetings in company mills on December 9.

Smuggler Testimony Links Lepke to Global Drug Ring
Testimony from narcotics smuggler Nate Gross tied Louis Lepke Buchalter to an international syndicate alleged to have moved 10 million dollars worth of drugs into the United States. Gross, who pleaded guilty to a suspended sentence, said he cleared 3 000 on three trips abroad with his brother in law to buy narcotics in China for shipment via France. He testified that bribed customs guards allowed the contraband through. The judge pressed him for details as Buchalter loomed nearby, previously called a dangerous industrial racketeer by District Attorney Thomas E. Dewey.
