Syracuse University fires first anagama kiln in the hills
Syracuse University, led by assistant professor James Brashear, fired its first anagama kiln built into a hillside behind the Comstock Art Facility near Manley Field House. Students from SU, Onondaga Community College, and Munson Williams-Proctor Institute worked around the clock during a 50-hour firing, learning the history and physics of wood firing while producing varied textures and ash patterns on pottery.
