Bush ends vacation urging defense and education spending
President Bush wraps up a 26 day Crawford vacation in Texas urging Congress to lift defense and education spending. He spoke at the American Legion convention in San Antonio and plans to return to Washington with his priorities intact. The White House says Social Security is not on the agenda despite CBO projections of a $9 billion reserve draw this year. Bush faces Senate opposition as he campaigns to keep defense and education at the front of the line. He also attended a San Jose Grist Mill dedication and said farewell to Air Force One’s Boeing 707 after 29 year service.
