FDA weighs return of Zomax pain killer to market
The FDA considers reintroducing Zomax by Johnson & Johnson with new warnings and restricted uses for moderate to moderately severe pain. Advisory committee support hinges on labeling accepted by the agency and public protection through clearer reader warnings. The drug, linked to eight to fifteen deaths and 1,100 adverse reactions, was pulled March 4 after fatal and near fatal events.
