Centenarians face hardship but show resilience in study
The 2000 U S census counted 137 centenarians across Onondaga Cayuga Madison and Cree counties up 23 percent from 1990. Researchers say longevity stems from health and adaptation with many remaining independent into their 90s while facing mobility limits.
