Guards push to remove barbells from New York prisons
Albany reports state prison bars weights and aluminum bats were removed after a disturbance at Mohawk Correctional Facility near Utica in which 11 guards were injured. The prison guards union renewed calls to strip free weights from all state facilities amid the July 18 melee where inmates used bats and barbells.
