Oswego potter Arlene Lyyett named artist in residence
Arlene Lyyett a Chicago native serves as artist in residence at the Oswego Art Guild Fort Ontario teaching ceramics and managing shop operations. Her degree from Loyola University Chicago and graduate work at Nebraska accompany a career shown in Rochester Rhinebeck Syracuse and Oswego exhibits with awards at eight major shows including a Kansas prize. She recalls a shining moment receiving an award from Mickey Mouse at a Disney World Forza Art Festival marking his 50th birthday.

Health leadership conference draws Oswego dental students
Two Oswego County students represented New York State at the Health Occupational Students of America National Leadership Conference in Albuquerque. Tina Bryant of Central Square competed in dental terminology and medical terminology spelling. Fulton YMCA Aquatic Director Donna Guiffrida earned certifications to teach water exercises to the handicapped, recognized by the national YMCA and the American Red Cross, and the only such instructor at an Oswego County facility served.

Zatlukal Named to Arts Education Advisory Council

Ruth Mulford elected to national HOSA board in 1982
Ruth Mulford a dental assisting instructor at Oswego County BOCES was elected to the 19 member national board of the Health Occupations Students of America. She will represent HOSA at the American Vocational Association meeting in Atlanta and will oversee competitive events at the fifth Leadership Conference in San Antonio in June 1982.

Area students win honors at area colleges and clubs
Six area students earned deans lists at Nazareth College of Rochester State University College Potsdam and Mohawk Valley Community College. Susan Caruso of Rochester is a sophomore music performance major with a 3.6 GPA. Oswego County students John Root, James Jennings, and Randy Rowe earned President's List honors at Mohawk Valley CC. Fulton Rotary Club installed six officers for 1982 including Vincent Caravan as president.
