Tito Receives License to Buy U.S. Steel Mill
The United States approved a plan to sell a steel mill to Yugoslavia in Pittsburgh. The $2,000,066 shipment by Continental Foundry and Machinery Co. would be the first time since World War II that war potential material reached a Communist nation. Officials say cash down payment is involved and the move is meant to counter the Soviet bloc’s economic pressure on Yugoslavia while drawing fire from Moscow and its satellites.
