Prof. William Gorse 88 former chairman of the Germanic language at Syracuse University died Saturday night at Memorial Hospital. He taught at the university 41 years retiring in 1947. Born February 2 1877 in Hamburg Germany he studied at Oberlin and earned an MA from Syracuse. He is survived by three nephews and his wife Edith Agan died in 1944. Services will be 11 am tomorrow at Eaton Tubbs Funeral Home Fayetteville with burial in Fayetteville Cemetery.

Mrs Sarah Barry of Whitman Massachusetts died at her daughter’s home on Hubbell Avenue where she had been visiting since May. A native of Donegal Ireland she is survived by another daughter Mrs Norbert Bergeron and by Mrs Jeanotte. Services will be held at the Church of the Holy Ghost with burial in St James Cemetery. Supreme Court Justice Eugene F. Sullivan denied Anthony Nadile a new trial for the 1933 Syracuse contractor slaying Carluc ci. Nadile argued a 1964 Supreme Court ruling required a hearing on voluntariness of confessions. the judge ruled statements voluntary but not confessions. Nadile, once sentenced to death then commuted to life, was accused of being hired by the victim’s wife and her boyfriend, Alfred Giallarenzi, who was executed in 1935. The wife testified, but was not tried.
Frank W. Loomis 89, of Pompey, longtime purebred Holstein dairy operator, died at home on West Road. A Pompey native, he started his dairy in 1911 and held roles with Delphi Church, Farm Bureau, Delphi Cemetery trustees, and Delphi Grange 486. Survived by son Burton E. Loomis and daughter Laura A. Loomis, both of Pompey. Services Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the residence. burial in Delphi Cemetery. Contributions to Delphi Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
Harold B. King 72 of Gulfport Florida died today in Oneida City Hospital after falling ill while visiting his son Lyman in Constantia. He lived in Syracuse 45 years and is survived by his widow Mary Berney King, son John of Binghamton, another son, a brother J Otis King, five grandchildren and three great grand children. Services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fairchild Meech Funeral Chapel Onondaga Street with Rev. Hugh E. Replogle officiating. Burial in St Marys Cemetery DeWitt.
Police said thieves stole forty two electric shavers worth 840 dollars overnight from Universal Carloading and Distributing Co. at 551 Eric Blvd West. Worker Leon Cole reported a missing padlock and five cartons of shavers missing after arriving at 419 S Alvord St.
Harold W. DeCarr 35 of 215 Green St pleaded guilty in County Court to second degree grand larceny and third degree burglary. Judge Albert Orenstein ordered a Sept 23 sentencing reappearance. DeCarr allegedly stole four air conditioners on Dec 20 from Hollywood Apartments Morgan Road Town of Clay.
Immaculate Mary Ranieri, 31, of 6337 Van Buren Road Warners pleaded guilty to first and second degree assault for beating her daughter Suzanne on April 28. Judge Albert Orenstein ordered her to reappear in court.
