Similarities Rise At Two Great Northeast Festivals
A week apart at Tanglewood and Saratoga, two northern summer showcases, reveal striking similarities in audience and repertoire. Midori, the 18-year-old violinist, shines at both, while Schumann's music and Stravinsky’s Firebird anchor strong performances by the BSO under Davies and the Philadelphia Orchestra under Dutott.

The Two Jakes Struggles to Recapture Chinatown’s Spark
Review notes the film follows Robert Towne and Jack Nicholson in a tale of land and air corruption amid echoes of Chinatown. It suggests the sequel lacks suspense and erotic charge of the original, despite aiming to connect themes and characters from the 1974 classic.

The Two Jakes film review with Chinatown links
The Two Jakes follows Jake Gittes a refined LA detective still chasing infidelity but with upscale trappings. The film \nweighs style over pacing, features Nicholson Keitel Tilly, and offers an ensemble finish though lingering questions, a dramatic ending, and a focus on atmosphere over solid plotting.
