Mock battle in Cortina heats up training for Task Force Hunter
U S forces role play to aid Cortina as insurgents and Atlantican forces press a small island. A clash near Curnis left multiple troops wounded or dead, medics under fire, and a follow up armored column sweeping toward the village amid ongoing CLF activity.
Training Toughest, Officials Say at JRTC Exercise
Lt. Col. Paul Halslander of the 1st Battalion 108th Infantry describes the Joint Readiness Training Center exercise at Fort Polk as the ultimate test for light infantry. More than two thousand soldiers from 39 states and Puerto Rico participate in Task Force Hunter, role playing guerrillas and regular forces in Cortina’s rugged terrain. The three week exercise, one of two premier U.S. sites for high intensity combat training, aims to prepare units for real war readiness and activation. Soldiers left for Fort Polk July 30 and will return home next weekend after the final week of training.
