In New York a Queens jury convicted James Dixon York and Anthony Laborde of the officer’s shooting but deadlocked 10-2 on the officer’s partner murder charge after 13 weeks of trial. The panel, nine Black, two Panthers and one white, faced intense tension and racial strains during deliberations. The judge ordered a retrial on the murder count.
