Pan Am proposes 10 percent pay cut and wage freeze

Pan American World Airways asked its 33,100 employees to accept a 10 percent pay cut and a wage freeze through December 31, 1982. The carrier reported a 1981 first half loss of 217.6 million dollars, compared with 114.2 million dollars in the same period a year ago.

Ferries Collide Near Woods Hole In Fog City

A ferry with 350 passengers returning from Martha's Vineyard collided head on with a freight ferry in dense fog near Woods Hole Massachusetts. Five people were slightly injured as authorities said neither vessel was traveling at full speed according to Woods Hole Steamship Authority spokesman Ray Martin.

Bomb attacks hit Israeli missions in Vienna and Athens

Bombs exploded outside Israel's embassy in Vienna injuring a 75-year-old woman and damaging nearby areas, while two home-made devices exploded at the Israeli Diplomatic Mission in Athens with minor damage and no injuries. Continental Airlines chairman found dead in Los Angeles

A L Feldman, Continental Airlines chairman and CEO, was found dead in the executive suite at Los Angeles International Airport. A gun was found near his body, and officials say he apparently died by suicide. Feldman, 53, had recently taken the top post amid a hostile takeover battle with Texas International Airlines. Hancock strikers break off picketing

Air traffic controllers at Syracuse Hancock Airport did not picket on the first day since Tuesday. Dennis Rice of Local 256 said his group and several Central New York locals were ordered not to picket by a higher source, a claim disputed by PANC East which said there were no such orders and that New York City area locals did picket. The Syracuse local planned to resume tomorrow.
