Central New York issues a five day forecast with hot conditions and humidity persisting tonight and Thursday. Record high temperatures possible with hazy sun. Friday brings clouds showers and thunderstorms then weekend is sunny. Planets and Moon times listed.
Heat gripped the nation east of the Plains with another scorcher forecast as a cold front was expected to alter conditions. Officials warned residents to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activity while meteorologists tracked the front’s approach.
The extended forecast tracks cooler air through the Northeast with fronts bringing gusty winds and possible small hail. A southern push from the Dakotas brings scattered showers to North Dakota and Minnesota, with possible winds over 50 mph in strong storms. Flash flooding threatens eastern Tennessee and Kentucky as searchers recover Andrea Hopkins, 24, swept away near the Big Sandy River after heavy rains. Roads and bridges were washed out, power and water service disrupted to hundreds. Central Rockies face thunderstorms, while calmer conditions persist along the West Coast and central regions. Temperatures span 80s to 100s across regions with record heat in parts of California and the central Plains.
