Slayings and wounds strike Ankara airport attack
Six people were killed and 72 wounded when terrorists attacked Esemboga airport’s international terminal in Ankara. One bomber triggered explosions, others fired on passengers as panic spread, hostages were taken in the cafeteria, and security forces responded with gunfire and a hostage rescue. The attackers, possibly Turkish nationals, used a bomb and submachine guns, with one man wounded and another killed during the assault. The operation was claimed by the Secret Army as part of Armenian militant actions, citing demands for Armenian prisoner releases and threatening further attacks in Europe and the U.S.

Carey plans hiring freeze to trim state budget
Lawton argues the freeze aims to cut costs without creating dire conditions though severance and partial-year savings limit impact. Legislators warn massive layoffs could hand the new governor a chaotic, life threatening situation in state facilities and risk court challenges. Biggane notes the move shows excessive staffing but doubts it would meet the budget gap.
