The second named storm of the 2001 Atlantic season weakened slightly in the Gulf of Mexico as it moved toward Louisiana after drenching Florida with up to 8 inches of rain. Officials warned it could regain strength within 24 hours. a reconnaissance plane monitored its center while tornadoes were possible along southwest Florida.
Oneida and Onondaga Lakes see west winds 5 to 10 knots with around 1 foot waves. Lake Ontario reports west winds 10 to 20 knots and waves 1 to 3 feet. C Elnger Lakes show west winds 6 to 12 knots and waves under 1 foot.
