Guards Preserve Quiet Restart at Univis Lens Plant

National Guard troops, tanks and guns guarded the Univis Lens Co plant as non-striking workers returned during a strike led by United Electrical Workers. Tear gas dispersed 75 supporters, a cordon tightened around the plant, and six pickets were allowed through under court order amid a tense but controlled reopening. Arthur L.
