Missionaries risk life on Amazon in Peru amid attack shock
In northeast Peru along the Amazon, U.S. missionaries work river life among villages near Iquitos. A rescue air incident April 20 left Roni Bowers and infant Charity wounded when a plane mistook their Cessna for a drug plane. Her husband Jim and son Cory survived. Mortimer family and others continue outreach, stressing faith, literacy, hygiene, and medical aid while facing deadly storms, venomous wildlife, and isolated jungle living.
