Gregory Schaff 29 of 246 Roxbury Road died after his westbound car struck a parked flashing tractor trailer on East Genesee Street near Route 5 in DeWitt. The truck driver Joseph Fretty escaped injury. An autopsy will determine exact cause. Services set for Thursday at St. Matthew's Church East Syracuse. He was a salesman for A V Wiggins Inc and member of local clubs. Surviving wife Jason and extended family listed. He was born in Syracuse and a Fayetteville-Manlius alum. Moravian Dies in Fire at Lakefront Home
Edward O'Brien, 84, of Cascade on Owasco Lake, died from asphyxiation in a fire that destroyed his one story lakefront house. Firefighters from Moravia Locke and Scipio battled the blaze about 4 45 a m. The fire was ignited by an unattended open fireplace. Wade the Moravia Fire Chief and coroner led removal of the body. State police investigators continue the probe.
