Burial Our family will be 7 to 9 p m today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p m Friday. Native of Sidane Rinaldo resided most of his life in Canastota. Wife Josephine Mary Sorbeto died in 1970. Rinaldo was a retired produce farmer and worked for New York Central Rail. He was a member of St. Agathas Church. Survived by two sons Frank Jr. of Oneida and Joseph of Syracuse. four daughters Virginia Martin of Canastota Louise Kracus of Dayton Ohio Mary Darlene Rinaldo of the Bronx Debra Rinaldo of Albany. two brothers Predariel of Utica and James of Hubbardsville. a sister Carmella Arbraswiski of Syracuse. 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

School budget assessments revised after new state aid

The district notes budget figures will change with summer assessments. Earlier estimates showed a $2.87 per $1,000 hike for Smithfield, but Garad Williams reports state aid increasing from $140,000 to $325,806. The district now expects about $49 million in state aid.

US economy warned of decline without rapid modernization

Economist Lester Thurow warned at Colgate University that the United States risks becoming a semi underdeveloped economy in the 21st century unless broad changes occur.
