The Syracuse forecast calls for flurries and a chance of lake effect snow with winds 10 to 20 mph. Tuesday would bring sun and clouds with a high near 40, followed by a chance of snow or showers midweek and lows in the mid-20s to 30s with highs in the 40s.
The National Weather Service at Hancock Airport forecasts lake effect snow with scattered flurries across Central New York and a mix of sun and clouds Tuesday. Temperatures will stay in the upper 30s to mid 40s with highs around 35 to 45 degrees and several days of chilly, unsettled weather.
Lake effect snow and cold across the Buffalo Jamestown Rochester and Syracuse to Auburn regions with lows near 15 to 20 and highs around 35 to 45 degrees. Monday night through Tuesday bring a mix of clouds and sun in many areas, with flurries or sprinkles possible and northerly or westerly winds 5 to 20 mph.
Syracuse notes a high of 51, low 26 with a record 82 from 1945. Snowfall totals include 100 inches Sunday and 12 inches for April, with 164 inches in 1983 as a record. Precipitation records show 4.18 inches yesterday, 0.79 inches in 1915 for April, and lake winds shift to southwest with 3-6 foot waves tonight and 3-5 foot waves Tuesday.
