Syracuse Soldier Hurt in Fort Wayne Plane Crash
A Syracuse soldier was among five men killed or injured when a four engine Army bomber crashed after takeoff from Baer Field near Fort Wayne Indiana on April 9. Major Kavanaugh and officers said a sixth crew member was under investigation. A thief damaged the local ration board offices during the incident.

Albany Diner Cook Charged in Train Berth Slaying
Robert B. E. Folkes, a 20 year old Albany diner cook, is charged with murdering Martha Virginia James 21 of Norfolk on a California bound train. Prosecution says Folkes planned the attack, entered Mrs James berth, slit her throat, then feigned innocence by returning to the galley. The trial opened with the state detailing the premeditated crime and Folkes’s alleged actions.
