New Fire Track Demonstration Ends Fire Douse

Shelbyville Indiana reports that a new rural fire truck delivered for a demonstration quickly doused a fire on Hiram Drake's farm. Fire Chief Bernard Jones and a helper responded, returning within a half hour with the demonstration declared a success.

Danville Virginia on April 9 J S Motley tired of robberies at his store. He boarded the back door barred the windows and added a double padlock to the front door. He warned the thieves they may step on his sleeping form if they try again.

Lehman to Inspect 27th Division at Fort McClellan

Gov. Herbert Lehman of New York planned to inspect the 27th Division at Fort McClellan Alabama and attend an enlisted men's dance. He was welcomed with a 19 gun salute from World War II era cannons and said he would depart for New York around noon tomorrow.
