Qut-Patients Centre Elects New Committee at July Meeting
At the first committee of management meeting in the hospital building last Wednesday night Dr J Pridham was elected vice president with J Parle and D Hallenstein as vice-presidents. R H Thorne was honorary treasurer. The centre treated over 500 patients in July, finances are healthy but more support is needed to expand activities. A sub committee will draft a development plan to alleviate malnutrition and improve facilities. E J Luxford resigned from the committee due to ill health with regrets expressed.

Albion Tennis Club to Open Courts Tomorrow
The Albion Tennis Club announces the official opening of its courts on Saturday at 2 46 p m with Shire President Dr J R Parsons to perform the ceremony. Sunshine and District Tennis Association affiliates will attend and refreshments are provided free in the afternoon. A complementary dance that evening requires tickets. Death of Mrs Margaret Polan at 40 in Sunshine
After an illness of over five weeks Mrs Margaret Kathleen Polan of Kamarooka Street Sunshine wife of J J Polan passed away at the Women's Hospital on August 18 aged 40. She came to Sunshine from Oakleigh in 1930 leaving three children and her husband. The private funeral was held August 19 at Springvale Cemetery with the Dandenong parish priest conducting the burial service.

Married Man's Lapse Over Rail Theft At Deer Park Quarry
William Thomas Jones of Footscray was charged in Sunshine Court with stealing iron rails from Sandringham Council quarry at Deer Park on August 7. He pleaded guilty, claimed good faith, and received 14 days imprisonment, suspended on a 25 pound bond after considering his good character and an appeal by his solicitor.

Women’s Emergency Service Seeks Men Over Forty Six

Council loses case over alledged unauthorised building
The Braybrook Shire Council inspector charged Gordon Richard Calder of Sunshine with erecting an iron building on Burnewang Street without a permit. The judge dismissed the case and costs of two pounds eleven shillings were awarded to Calder. The bench accepted a claimant’s explanation about unpaid winnings in a separate matter involving Mrs Alice Mary Green.
