A wartime editorial lauds Britain and Australia aiding a smaller nation against Hitlerism. It portrays democracy versus tyranny, calls Hitler mad, and urges German people toward freedom while noting leaflet drops and quoting Shire President Dr A Lowe on the common cause.
The incoming Shire President of Braybrook calls on ratepayers to maintain daily routines and spend wisely to support fellow citizens amid wartime stress. He pledges council aid if needed and stresses comradeship to combat unease while asking for patience and resilience.
Mr and Mrs J Bradbury both aged 87 died yesterday at their son’s Fraser Street Sunshine home. Born in the same year as her husband, Mrs Bradbury died two hours before he did. They came from England years ago and lived in Braybrook Sunshine and North Fitzroy. Survived by sons and daughters. Funeral from Fraser Street Sunshine to Footscray Cemetery conducted by Rev A E Winter with Walter A Warne in charge.

Braybrook Council met on Monday to reaffirm that only local labour should be used in municipal work. This year a portion of footpath construction was let on piece work, drawing from non local residents with special expertise. Engineer Mr Robinson favored day work and promised to limit employment to locals, following a complaint from Albion Progress Association about the footpath job.

The Sunshine Golf Club announces a postponed Presidents Day event now set for Saturday September 16. The district is invited with four ball best ball for men and stroke for ladies. Mrs A Perry won the Wednesday competition. An eclectic competition on September 13 closes the run with full ladies attendance requested.
