Mrs Manly discussed Army life with Maidstone ladies, while Mrs J Devarrow was admitted as an in patient at Melbourne Hospital. Measles epidemic continues in Maidstone with new cases daily.

Sunshine Horticultural Society Seeks Community Role
The Sunshine Horticultural Society met in Sunshine Town Hall on Wednesday October 10 with Vice President Mr F Bennett chairing. A bloom display and new contests for best arranged bowl and for fancy needlework were announced as efforts to attract local ladies and families. Antonio spoke on dahlias and praised the flower exhibits, with results listing prizes for Flowers sets and Needlework winners.

Obituary for Mr Fred Turner Footscray Sunshine area
The death occurred Saturday last of Mr Fred Turner a longtime Footscray and Sunshine resident born in Footscray 56 years ago. He worked on goldfields and at Malmsbury before moving to Western Australian diggings. As Sunshine manager of Commonwealth Quarries he leaves four daughters and two sons. Funeral Monday at Footscray cemetery with Arch and Les Turner and R Hand and J Woods as bearers. Father Carney conducted the service. Walter A. Warne handled arrangements.
