The Braybrook Shire Council faces high renovation costs for the Town Hall and loan interest. Residents urge broader hall use including smoke socials with liquor, to boost revenue, noting Footscray venue costs and lost income from frequent dinners and farewell events.
At a council session, Dr. Robinson questioned scarifier use on Ballarat Road junction while Dr. Pennell rebuked him. A heated exchange followed as Cr. Pennell vowed not to be bullied and the president called for order.
The Shire of Braybrook was proclaimed in 1871 with a road district prior. A long list presents presidents from William Bouse to J. R. Parsons covering years 1871 1938 and including names such as Samuel S. Kitchie George Mullenger William Hopkins James Christie Thomas Opie G. W. Pennell Ralph McKay and others.
Dr Robinson disputes the proposed western municipalities Trust to build a pig market in Brooklyn. Braybrook and Dr Lowe back the motion for Braybrook to cooperate with other councils, warning of risks if the venture fails and likening it to a prior Water Trust. Continued on Page eight.
