The Bray Brook Shire Finance Committee outlines a £60,975 budget for the current financial year begun October 1. Major spending areas include administration £5,710 public works £9,022 roads £4,600 and grants £1,638 with £36,126 expected from rates and £3,088 in government grants.
Bank deposits closed the last financial year at 911 382. Western and Southern ridings posted credit balances, while Central and River remained in debit. Details for 30/9/47: Western 9 725 credit, Southern 11 198 credit, Central 4 527 debit, River 10 666 debit.
The Western Riding vacancy in the Shire of Braybrook will be filled by Mr. J. B. Salmond after his sole nomination. Salmond is a well known and popular figure in the district and is expected to serve as a capable representative following Dr. E. Treloar's retirement.
Mr Dave Matthews curator of Footscray Parks and Gardens will lecture on shrubs at the Horticultural Society meeting on Wednesday next at 8 p.m. in the Supper Room Shire Hall. The public is invited for an interesting evening by an acknowledged authority.

Committee aims to establish and operate the kindergarten early next year.

Braybrook Council adopted financial estimates revealing two Ridings River and Central in debt while Western and Southern hold large credit balances. Dr Drayton urged equalizing Southern and Western rates as fair. Dr Pennell noted longstanding Western credits and urged viewing finances as a whole. Dr Barclay wished to avoid large riding balances and serve ratepayers, echoed by Dr Dobson on debt indicating services provided.
The Braybrook Cocnciliars announce the annual beating of the bounds will take place on Tuesday next, marking a traditional ritual observed by local residents and historic groups.
At a Saturday meeting St Albans Progress Association faced sharp scrutiny over its assistant secretary Mr Yeomans. Dr Dickson and Dr Jolly accused the group of using Yeomans as a dummy and pursuing anti council tactics while defending Yeomans as advancing the district. The session ended with calls against severance of the Shire.
A Braybrook Health Committee meeting appointed a sub committee to firm up plans for an Infant Welfare Centre opposite the Shire Hall. The group will review a £12 000 project combining infant welfare facilities with prenatal care and preschool education, while considering Girl Guides and McKay Memorial input.
A surprise silver wedding party for Mr. and Mrs. J. G Teunissen was hosted at 24 Hampshire Cres on Tuesday evening with about forty friends. The couple wed on 4 November 1922 at the Presbyterian Manse Sunshine with Rev Tamango officiating.
