St Albans Progress Association Sees Active Meeting

A large attendance at the St Albans Progress Association monthly meeting included visitors from Albion and Kellor. Petitioners in Albion have over 300 extra signatures seeking an additional Melbourne train at about 5.50 pm, with over 400 anticipated. The group urged Braybrook and Keilor councils to back the petition and praised council cooperation. Other items covered include a plan for a full-time ranger due to wandering stock, a shire tree planting drive with 30 trees planted, and efforts to secure railway department consent for work at East Esplanade and Main Road East. Discussion on hall expansion was unfavorably received, garbage disposal concerns, and dissatisfaction with Maribyrnong riding. A State Film Centre picture display is invited for Monday at 7.30 pm with free admission, sponsored by the kindergarten committee. A papier mache demonstration by Mrs Turner was deemed successful with plans for another evening, and thanks were offered to Mrs Turner for her support. The parcel prize went to Mr R W Yeomans.
