Council Favors New Bus Routes

The council reviewed bus services with many councillors proposing changes. They invited Dr H McIvor of the Bus Advisory Committee to discuss routes, while Dr Dempster’s request to divert Ballarat road services was rejected due to road conditions. Proposals included a North Sunshine route and improved Ballarat road services to Altona Moonee Ponds Pig Market and West Sunshine through King Edward avenue Derrimut street.

Obituary: Paul Galea Dies After Simple Life in Shire

A well known resident of the shire Mr Paul Galea aged 67 died last Friday. He came to Australia 2% year ago and settled around Albion. With his son Merry he turned a barren Ballarat road block into a thriving market garden. Quiet and unassuming he aided appeals and will be missed by his wife and family.

Old Boys Raise Funds for Hospital Beds and Prize Gifts

Splendid effort by the Old Boys Association over two months raised funds to supply each hospital bed with a new rubber mattress. All expenses were borne by the Old Boys, with every penny going to the appeal. At a Social in the Ma sonic Hall Mr T Hyde presented the donation to Mr R K McDonald who thanked donors and noted trophies from the March picnic and Braybrook Social Club football charity event.

Poultry exhibitor Dr J B Salmond tops Cheltenham show

Deer Park breeder Dr J B Salmond and his Peerless black leghorns collected major prizes at Cheltenham. The birds won five firsts and special cups for best at show best young bird and best young bird in the show with a £5 prize.

Sunshine State School Children's Ball shines at shire hall

The Sunshine State School Mothers' Club hosted two nights of children’s dancing in the shire hall last week. About 280 pupils from lower to senior levels performed in pastel frocks, Irish costumes, and Army Navy Air Force themes. The event featured solo dances, the Wedding of the Painted Doll, Hokey Pokey, and Boompy a-daisy, drawing a large audience of parents and dignitaries including Dr A E Shepherd and Dr R Barrett.

Proposed Home for the Aged in Ascot Vale Appeal
