Six People Injured At Seaholme Level Crossing Crash
A touring car was struck by an electric train at the Seaholme level crossing near Altona on Monday, injuring six locals. Injured include William Bernard Gill and wife Eunice Gill with a range of fractures and shock, their children Rodney Gill who lost a forearm, Michael Gill with a fractured skull, Rita Morris and daughter Lorraine Morris with multiple injuries. The driver swerved to avoid collision as wreckage dragged about 100 yards along the line before stopping.

War Heroes Receive Decorations From Governor General
Tom O'Brien ex POW and Braybrook Council officer was invested with the B E M Military Div by the Governor General at Parliament House for devotion to duty as a Staff Sergeant in 2 2nd Pioneers. He kept battalion records while prisoner and aided tracing POWs. Lt Col Campbell of the Australian Corps of Signals also received O I H for work at El Alamein. Campbell, Auburn resident, served 22 years at Sunshine Homunal Bank and fought in New Guinea and New Britain. Trevenden of the same battalion also received the BLE. Havenden had been a student teacher at Albion State School before the war.

Assault by Son on Father at Sunshine Court
Kevin Walker Holman, 22, of Benjamin Street, was charged with unlawful assault on his father Montague Holman. The court heard drink caused the trouble after a March incident where Kevin attacked his father at home. Pleaded guilty. 14 days imprisonment suspended on bond to be of good behavior for 12 months and abstaining from alcohol.

Son ejects father from house over abusive language
George Hampton of 112 Hertford Road Sunshine sought an ejectment against his father at Sunshine Court on Tuesday. The complaint, owner of the premises, said Mr Hampton Senior’s conduct and repeated drinking led his wife and two children to leave. Mrs Hampton Junior and Mrs Flood supported the case as witnesses. The bench ruled in favor of the complainant with an ejectment order and a 28 day stay.

Rabbits Bring Fines for Keilor Property Owner
Robert P. Watson appeared in the Sunshine Court to show cause why he had not destroyed rabbits on his Keilor property after a notice served October 1 1045. An inspector said steps were taken after February 3 but failure to act before February 4 resulted in a fine of £2.
