Trains on the Sunshine line were delayed on Tuesday evening when a penne van derailed. The up line was closed for over an hour and passengers were conveyed from St Albans by bus.
The Sunshine Community Hospital Auxiliary reported a weekend collection at Mr Crosbie's garden in Dickson Street totaling over 96 shillings. They thanked Mr Crosbie for his kindness.
An artwork collection features tapestry stairs with stippled and floral motifs offered for display. Autumn stonework and floral detailing are highlighted as decorative elements for the stair run exhibit.
The Braybrook Council, pressed by the Municipal Association, considers cost figures for the 40 hour work week. Dr G Dobson objects to supplying data, arguing it would support wage increase in Arbitration Court. Council approves gathering possible cost figures. distribution to the Association postponed.
The Sunshine Horticultural Society Autumn Show took place at Shire Hall last Saturday March 1. Exhibits were fewer than usual due to mild weather but quality was high. Shire President Dr BR Barrett and Mrs Barrett opened the show praising the Locney work. Miss Joan Kix presented Mrs Barrett with a sheaf of dahlias arranged by Mrs IL Gray.
The Maidstone theatre area parking was again under council review on Monday. Previous actions restricted the cab wait and bus pickup zone. the proprietor argued better lighting was needed and offered to fund additional lighting, a move supported by Dr Barclay and Dr Dobson.
Braybrook Council faced strong opposition to a home clothes pressing operation on Roramond Rd after a letter from the Clothing and Allied Trades Union asked for reconsideration. The union claimed a vicious sweating system existed, and warned labour shortages could drive rates to unsustainably low levels. The Shire President ruled reconsideration impossible until a motion on the books was rescinded, prompting Dr. Dobson to give notice of a recission motion next week.
A large crowd filled the Paytier Wall to bid farewell to Rev E H Carne and his wife Mrs Carne as they prepare to take charge of Baptist churches in Melbourne and Alber Park. Friends from multiple denominations attended, with speeches, flowers, and a canteen gift.
The Sun shine Branch of the AJL IP met at Shire Hall to discuss the ALP picnic in April at Keas Park Carrum with travel plans and tickets six pence. Nominations for municipal elections close April 6 with detail on candidates and committee formation for Lalor.
