Inclement weather did not deter about 290 people from gathering at the local hall to discuss enlarging the hall to meet needs. Dr A J Davis presided. plans by Mr R G Warren were shown. council action and a fundraising committee were urged. events and fundraisers were scheduled including a presentation evening and a free kindergarten drive.
A retirement celebration on Friday March 4 marked 47 years for Mr. A J Bloomer and 40 years for Mrs. Bloomer at Nettlefolds. Toasts, gifts, and dinners followed at Wentworth, St James Theatre, Phoenix Hotel, and Tivoli Theatre with speeches praising their service and esteem.
The Sunshine Old Boys Association fixed a new date for the Annual Picnic on March 27 after an earlier weather cancellation. A general meeting is set for Friday March 11 to discuss venture details. The Old Boys cricket team trails in the semi final against Harvesters after a strong start from Frank Kitchen and Jim Steadman, with 97 all out. Reg Hand returns from holidays and seeks members to help with the Hospital Effort.

Braybrook Council on Monday refused an application to establish a cartridge filling factory in Wright Street Sunshine. The move faced opposition due to proximity to a residential area and the plan to store powder under supervision. Councillors warned the venture could expand beyond its initial size.
A tender for the erection of the East Sunshine School has been accepted by the Public Works Department. The amount of the tender is $17,264. Members and intending members are reminded that the next meeting will be held on Tuesday 15th at 2 p.m. in the Dobson Cress Hall.

The Railway Department planned to dump Newport Power Station ashes into a disused Brooklyn quarry. Councillors feared nuisance and asked for more information after learning ashes would be kept wet to prevent blowing. The council postponed final approval at Monday’s meeting.

FL Watkins Pty Ltd seeks to establish an abattoir on land near the Newport railway line Brooklyn. Councillors inspected the site and will consider the proposal after legal notices for noxious trades are served and 28 days pass. A prior trade licence once granted expired during the war. Dr Dobson urged Commonwealth use of the buildings for the community.
Medical Officer Dr Ko Tirennan deems Shire of Reavivonkin health high in his district annual review. Dr Brennan summarized year health measures and announced an immunization campaign targeting about 600 children aged six months to 14 years.
