A local notice lists two waltz competitions at 9.16 and 10 pm during the East Sunshine Cricket Club dance night with a 40 member Blue Bird Cycle Club from Yarraville and 30 members of a Footscray club attending. Harvest thanksgiving services run at several churches with meetings this week led by Major Lynn and Adjutant Henderson, plus entertainments and gift sales. Footscray council approves Sunshine Road name change. a direction board will guide to major roads. Braybrook council denies Deer Park Tennis Club private property funding, citing Local Government Act limits.
A February 29 coming of age celebration at St. John's Hall Footscray honored George Guy youngest son of Mr and Mrs B Guy Rupert Street with 120 guests. Dr E Drayton chaired the supper interval. toasts were given by G Hayes and C Guy. cake and decorations reflected the cricket club colors. Guests traveled from Bendigo and Benalla. George received many presents including a large gold key.
Council warned bathers at Kororok Creek foot of Derby Road about deadly germs from the school septic system. Nearby issues included cricket ground access fees and Keilor Shire Council granting use of recreation reserve to the Victorian Amateur Cycle Union with a sweats stall approval.
The Sunshine Mothers' Club met on March 8 with 634 pupils recorded at the school. Despite ten members helping, the year was not very successful, costing £30 in the school and a Christmas treat. Officers elected were President Mrs A Brown, Vice President Mrs L James, Treasurer Mrs W Avery, Secretary Mrs W Tisdale, Assistant Secretary Mrs L Thorpe. The club runs a Tuesday euchre at the Blue Room and plans a March 26 dance.
A wedding was celebrated at the Methodist Church in Sunshine on Saturday March 7 at 5 pm. Miss Jeanette Myrtly Rui, of Northam, WA, wed Mr James Rupert Broughton of Donald, Vic. The bride wore white satin and silver with orange blossom and tulle veil. a bouquet of white dahlias.
