Wedding Bells at Our Lady's Church

Ruth Isabella Pummeroy wed Neil Crowley in a Nuptial Mass at Our Lady's Church officiated by Rev Fr Ryder. The bride wore white lace over taffeta with a pleated peplum and a coronet of orange blossom. Bridesmaid Teresa Crowley wore white and lemon organdi. Best man was Mr D Crowley. reception followed in the Parish Hall with the bride’s mother presiding.

Dexter Turner 21st Birthday and Engagement Announced

A 21st birthday party for Dexter Turner was hosted by Mr and Mrs W L Turner at 31 Sydney Street. Guests enjoyed games and a musical program before supper and a toast to the guest of honor. Dexter's engagement to Miss June Ellice of Maidstone was announced with congratulatory remarks from Mrs Ellice and Miss Betty Walker who traveled from Sydney. A recitation by Mr Walker of Lascelles and singing of Auld Lang Syne closed the evening.

Sunshine District Football Club Holds Annual Meeting

Sunshine District Football Club reports over £1200 in receipts and a £70 credit balance for the year at its annual meeting. Officers were elected including CC M Uther as President and K Tisdale as Treasurer, with a life membership for Peter Inkster and coach appointment deferred pending negotiations with a former league player.

Pleasant Sunday Afternoon at Maidstone Hall

A Sunday gathering held at Maidstone Hall on February 27 under ALP auspices featured Hon. A S Drakeford as guest speaker. He addressed Privy Council Appeal Full Employment taxation health and education expenditure with government review and cooperation urged for Australia’s common good.

English visitor at Braybrook Council meeting

Dr T M Moffat of Bourough of Boston Lincolnshire England spoke at Braybrook Council with stories of English local government. He noted Australia as a paradise residents may not realise and praised food parcels from the Old Country. He cited his municipality's history with charters in 1204 and 1545.

Thanksgiving Service At Albion Church Aids Overseas Par

The church announces a Sunday Thanksgiving service with Mr. Bob Kershaw of Paseo Nate and Mr Root Clark assisting Rev. Al P. Small. Instead of gifts of fruit and vegetables, parishioners are urged to send Lif parcels overseas. Sunshine choir will perform choral pieces and the hymns The Works of God and Ye Shall Dwell in the Land.

Reverend E H Carne to Leave Sunshine Church

The Rev E H Carne, minister of Sunshine Baptist Church, will finish his duties at month end. He plans to move to the Albert Mark and Port Melbourne Churches and begin a new pastorate there in April.

Golf Club Prepares for New Season

Sunshine Golf Club wraps its annual meeting and begins season preparations led by the general committee. New office bearers include President G. Bult and Captain C. Willaton with F Willaton as Secretary. A tribute was paid to Dr. John Adamson, a founder and former president. A working bee at the Pith Conenrew is planned.

Obituary: T Lomas of Maidstone Dies in Melbourne Hospital

Following a long illness Me. T. Lomas a well known Maidstone resident and Shire employee passed away at Melbourne Hospital. The Shire Council attended the funeral with Shire President Dr Ro Barrett, Drayton Dobson Skinner and others. He is survived by his widow and two sons.

Parking Outside The Roxy Maidstone Shire Meeting Action

Braybrook Council discussed curbside parking near the Roxy Theatre Maidstone and the Shire Engineer proposed restricting parking to one side of the road to ease loading and unloading. Dr Barrett supported the change and the motion reflecting his lines was carried.
