J W H Stewart a painter sued Mrs M D Cathels for 16 pounds for painting and roof repairs at her Suffolk Road home in Sunshine. The case heard 14 days adjournment with verdict to settle at 14 pounds if Stewart completes unfinished verandah and boards.
A Monday blaze tore through the rear of Mrs Mattinson's residence at 5 ers Street, destroying part of a paling fence and several cooking canes.
A public meeting of subscribers will be held at the Shire Hall Sunshine on Wednesday February 23 1938 at 8 p.m. to consider building a Baby Health Centre as a memorial to the late H V McKay in lieu of a statue or other memorial. A E Dedrick.

Mrs Jane McKenzie of Servante Street Sunshine pleaded guilty in the Sunshine petty sessions to keeping cattle within 100 feet of a dwelling and creating a nuisance. Inspectors reported 17 cows eight calves and manure covering the rear block, with the defense citing local boys damaging fences. A fine of £1 in each instance was imposed and the case was dismissed after a warning to provide a home for the defendant.
Dorothy Mary Felstead sued Alfred John Felstead for maintenance at the Sunshine court. She testified the couple married April 17 last year and he abused and assaulted her, leading to separations from September. Alfred denied the accusations claiming his wife drank at home. his counsel was T J Kennedy.
Albert Henry Dean of Durham Road faced a court appearance over non payment of maintenance arrears for his wife and three children. Arrears tallied at £8 6s 3d, with interim payments totaling £200 since the order in February 1936. The bench adjourned the case for up to three months and urged further arrears reduction.
