Ruth McDonald Celebrates 21st Birthday at Masonic Hall

Ruth McDonald marked her coming of age with a social evening at the Masonic Hall Sun Shine hosted by Sergi and Mrs H R McDonald. More than 140 guests attended from near and far including Tat who enjoyed Percy Fraser's orchestra. Mr and Mrs Johnny O Loughlin performed a modern dancing exhibition before Ruth spoke and the group sang Auld Lang Syne.

Proposed New Factory to the Investigated

The Yarra Jute Company notified the council it plans to occupy Mooney's Cabinet Works in Devonshire Road to manufacture under felt carpets. The shire secretary noted the firm is a Daylesford Woollen Mills subsidiary and promised no dual operations. A similar process factory at Footscray had been refused. The motion to have medical officers inspect was carried.

Sun shine woman injured in railway gate collision

Miss Edna Pilcher of Graham Street Sun shine was knocked down by a cyclist at Hampshire Road railway gates while rushing to catch a train to Melbourne. She sustained head injuries as the closing gates narrowed the passage and two pedestrians hurried through.

Grace Stark Weds Robert More At Presbyterian Church

The wedding of Grace E. Stark and Robert James More drew a large crowd despite heat at the Presbyterian Church. Miss Stark wore white lace and satin with frangipani, a long veil, and a train. Edie Stark served as bridesmaid. Best man Wallace More assisted, organist Mrs C Eliasson provided music, and about one hundred guests attended the reception in the church hall.

Local riders face fines over unregistered machines

First Constable V G Bourke stopped Dudley Fabraci after a bicycle incident on Teowsir Me Bird No Gout. The court fined Fabraci 10 shillings. Laurence Valentine Rigby of 123 Anderson Road was fined 20 shillings for riding an unregistered motor.

McKay Memorial Fund Considers Baby Health Centre Plan

Subscribed funds total £694 7s 7d with £12 7s 6d expenses as subscribers discuss replacing a statue with a baby health centre. A site inspection is planned for March 5 with a March 23 public meeting to finalize details and coordinate with the Girl Guides.

Salvation Army Visitation With Brigadier Jarvis and Major Drury

Obituary of Mrs S J Ganner of Sunshine

The death occurred suddenly on Sunday night of Mrs S J Ganner wife of Mr T Gunner of 24 Forrest Street Sunshine. She had been in good health but died suddenly leaving ten children among them three at school. The funeral was held at Footscray cemetery on Tuesday with Pastor Gr Brice conducting the service.
