Ruth McDonald marked her coming of age with a social evening at the Masonic Hall Sun Shine hosted by Sergi and Mrs H R McDonald. Mr and Mrs Johnny O Loughlin performed a modern dancing exhibition before Ruth spoke and the group sang Auld Lang Syne.

The death occurred suddenly on Sunday night of Mrs S J Ganner wife of Mr T Gunner of 24 Forrest Street Sunshine.
