Sunshine Baseball Club opens with win over Ivanhoe
Sunshine Baseball Club defeated Ivanhoe 7 at their first game last Saturday. Coaches Al ert Ellis and Harold Wright molded raw recruits into a formidable side with players Ginty Ellis Ralph Guy Norm Hicking Tom Melnty and Tom Fox among standouts. Tomorrow Sunshine hosts Faulfield Tech Old Boys at 2 15. Officers elected include President G Kirby and Secretary N Green with a 2 shilling 6 pence joining fee.

Attendance at the Anzac Day service organized by the Sunshine RKJA sub branch was good though smaller than in former years due to cold weather. Rev J T Lawton delivered a noted speech on wartime sacrifice and the need to dedicate thinking to secure peace, with music by the Sunshine band and readings by multiple local pastors.

Two Outbreaks of Fire in Bunshin and Sunshine
A fire at 11.14 am Wednesday damaged a gunpowder shed linked to Phoenix Fireworks Co in Bunshin Terrace. Three workers were injured while a second blaze at 44 Graham Street Sunshine damaged the rear of a house. Sunshine brigade fought both fires, insured property, and a rider was fined for bicycle offences.
