The Sunshine Horticultural Society cancels its autumn show at the town hall due to storms causing low entries and poor conditions. The decision avoids ruined prestige and unfair competition for trophies, with needlework and map contests moved to the May 11 monthly meeting.
A large gathering of oval residents attended the Sun shine auxiliary At Home at St Mark's Hall. Mrs Perry introduced visitors Miss Cuthbertson and Miss Stewart and praised the hospital’s work. Miss Cuthbertson announced it is the largest women’s organization in the British Empire. A fine violin recital by Mrs Serpell and elocution by Mrs Steedman ended with thanks and tea.
The Sunshine District Band will lead a street march from Sunshine station at 2 30 tomorrow to the new Sunshine football ground via Sun Crescent to inaugurate the opening event.
Five government grants totaling 4200 pounds were allocated under the Federal Road Aid Agreement following long council and Defence department disputes over road maintenance near the Maribyrnong ordnance works. The Braybrookshire council, aided by MPs Drakeford and Casey, pressed for paved roads under Country Roads Board supervision, ending a long stand-off.
Charles Leslie Baudinette a pensioner of Biggs Street St Albans faced Sunshine court this morning charged with stealing a bicycle valued at £10 from Henry Ernest Sullivan of Ashley Street Footscray. Sullivan said he had consigned a bicycle from Nagambie to Tottenham on Easter Monday and later found it missing. He identified the court bicycle as his property. Francis James Woeiting a raibra.
