Delta Queen Returns to Cincinnati Amid 3 Year Reprieve
Cincinnati crowds cheered the Delta Queen as she sailed back upriver with bagpipes and a 21 gun salute. A special act of Congress saved the wooden hull riverboat, the last of its kind, after it faced legal trouble last fall. The Queen began spring duty carrying a National Trust for Historic Preservation tour from New Orleans up the Mississippi since April 16.

Marine deserter Minichiello leaves Italian jail after hijack saga
Raffaele Minichiello, the U.S. Marine deserter who hijacked a Trans World Airlines Boeing 707 in 1969 and flew it to Rome, was freed after 18 months in prison. He says he does not want to return to the United States to face air piracy charges and is staying in Italy. He also faces Marine Corps theft charges at home, allegedly over $200 in combat pay. U.S. officials doubt a request for extradition would succeed.
