Weyerhaeuser New Bern mill marks 25th anniversary celebration
Weyerhaeuser's New Bern pulp mill hosts a Saturday family fun day and Sunday open house to mark 25 years since opening on December 20, 1969. Fifty-five-year employees will be honored, with music, magic shows, food, rides, face painting, tours, and exhibits. Deputy Commerce Secretary Robert Goodale speaks. attendees receive an Atlantic white cedar seedling while supplies last. The mill employs about 500, exporting roughly 70 percent of its pulp production worldwide, with 25 percent sent to Europe.
