Chimney Swift Visit Delights Fourth Graders at A W Edwards
Mrs. Lorene Pfeiffer invited Have Lock's Chimney Sweep Gary Olsen to A W Edwards Elementary to discuss chimney swifts. Olsen filmed swifts entering the school's highest chimney, then later spoke to students about their nesting, migration, and protection under federal law. The class learned how swifts glue nests with saliva, lay eggs, and migrate to South America each year. The visit ended with hundreds of swifts flying from the chimney, and the school plans a spring talk on purple martins.
