Mission Hospital nurses push to form union in Asheville
Democratic leaders Biden and Sanders praised Mission Hospital nurses seeking to unionize with NNU. The 1600-nurse drive would be the largest since 2019 and faces opposition from HCA management over costs and care quality. If a majority vote yes, NNU would bargain for wages and conditions while dues are optional in North Carolina. The campaign has drawn wide local and regional attention, affecting talks in education and public sector labor.
