Theater renovation funded by Kelienberger Foundation grant
The Scottish Rite Temple theater in New Bern receives 25 000 dollars from the Kelienberger Foundation, boosting a planned renovation. Additional support includes 15 000 from the state Division of Archives and History and 1 000 from the National Trust for Historic Preservation to aid planning. The 186 year old venue seats about 500 and was the oldest in continuous operation until its 1974 closure.
