Bail bond denied for Havelock man in fatal Craven shooting
A Craven County Superior Court judge denied a request to reduce the $45,000 bond for 24 year old Morris, a Havelock resident held on involuntary manslaughter charges in the Oct 4 shooting that killed Tammy Jenkins, a 22 year old New Bern mother of four. Morris, who works at Naval Aviation Depot Cherry Point, is accused of firing a .380 handgun days after purchase. Jenkins’ family attended the hearing as her husband and mother wept. The judge noted Morris’s lack of U S residency and minimal local ties, upholding the prior bond amount and keeping him jailed.
