Housing affordability stays strong despite higher rates
Washington reports higher mortgage rates of 7.42 percent in the second quarter, but the National Association of Home Builders notes affordable markets remain across much of the country. The group says rates are still under 9 percent and affordability remains excellent, with 7.42 percent as the quarterly weighted average for adjustable and fixed loans. A separate study cites cigarette smoking as a leading cancer cause, doubling pancreatic cancer risk for longtime smokers and giving pancreatic cancer a median survival of about three months. Debra Silverman of the National Cancer Institute notes the study’s JNCI publication based on patient interviews.
