Hundreds evacuated as wildfires rage in Florida Panhandle
Fires in the Florida Panhandle forced about 1,600 residents from their homes and closed I-10 in both directions. In Walton County a 575 acre blaze prompted 500 evacuations with 33 structures damaged and 65 percent contained. Santa Rosa County saw 1,100 evacuated as a 2,000 acre fire grew tenfold east of Pensacola. Authorities urged compliance with officials as the evacuation order remained under review at noon Thursday.
