Storm toll rises as North Texas hit by deadly storms
A severe weather outbreak across north Texas killed at least 13 people and left four missing while injuring about 100. Hail up to softball size, flash floods, and power outages disrupted Dallas Fort Worth areas, with Haggar warehouse roof collapse killing workers and 16,800 customers losing power. Bridgeton Man Rescued From Neuse River After Bridge Fall
Two New Bern police officers swam 1.5 miles to reach the John Lawson Bridge where Bridgeton resident William Bailes, 72, had fallen or jumped into the Neuse River. He was pulled from the water unconscious and remained in critical condition at Craven Regional Medical Center Saturday night.

State's oldest volunteer fire company turning 150
New Bern's Atlantic Fire Co. No. 1 is North Carolina's oldest volunteer fire company celebrating its 150th birthday on May 13. Chartered in 1845, it has endured while the Button Co.
