Family rebuilds life after Florence floods Maryland home
The Byrne family of Franks Avenue north of Bridgeton describes a long recovery after Hurricane Florence in September 2018. Floodwaters from the Neuse River damaged their newly remodeled home, leaving visible water lines and a makeshift RV home in the yard. They salvaged what they could and endure the slow process of tearing out warped floors and mildewed furniture while adjusting to a new normal.

Railroaders stage 24th annual show in New Bern
With the city’s convention center closed for hurricane repairs the Carolina Coastal Railroaders moved their annual show to New Bern High School. Hundreds of enthusiasts visited NBHS cafeteria and gym to view model trains of several scales, eight miniature villages, and over 90 vendor tables while hotdogs were sold. Railroad cars engines and complete sets were on display for sale.
