Collision with deer kills motorcyclist near Cove City
Calvin Dwight Raynor 41 of 12300 Old US 70 West died when his Suzuki struck a deer on SR 1245 east of Cove City and was hit by a pursuing Hyundai. The Hyundai driver Milton Roberson Moore 24 of Dover and a passenger were uninjured. Raynor rode west at about 55 mph while the eastbound Hyundai traveled ~40 mph. The deer was killed. No charges filed. This marked Craven County’s second fatality in three days with additional injuries in nearby Vanceboro.
